I joined the Bookham & Horsley club in July 2001 and became President in 2006.
My father was a captain in the Royal Navy, so I spent my early years living in and around naval bases, in Malta and a number in the UK including Bath, Folkestone, Portsmouth and Plymouth. Our bolthole was with my grandparents in Eastbourne where I also went to school. Eventually my family settled in West Byfleet, Surrey.
Before retiring in 2003 I spent 20 years working for the National Trust at their regional office in the Surrey property Polesden Lacey. With my husband Terry I live in Effingham and enjoy travelling, especially to the Indian sub-continent and the Far East. Our children have flown the nest; our daughter to Teddington and our son to France, each have a daughter.
The charity I wish to support this year is The Breast Cancer Research Trust; their work will I hope lead to a better understanding of the causes of this complaint which can affect us all.
